Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 2021 Launches Announced for October 5, 2021

September 24th 2021

Our Infrastructure and Networking division reminds you that support for specific versions of Windows and Microsoft Office that you are using may be terminated.

To fully understand what an end of support means, this is seen in two stages:

1. Standard end of support: Microsoft offers basic support that includes functional patch and service pack updates during the first 5 years after the release of the said version.

2. Extended End of Support: Microsoft offers additional support that only includes security updates. This support extends to 5 years, on average, after standard support.

Here is a guide, for your information, depending on what you may be using:

For Windows Users :

Windows 7: 13/01/2015 (standard support) – 14/01/2020 (extended support).

Windows 8 / 8.1: 09/01/2018 (standard support) – 10/01/2023 (extended support).

Windows 10: 13/10/2020 (standard support) – 14/10/2025 (extended support).

For Microsoft Office Users :

Office 2010: 13/10/2015 (standard support) – 13/10/2020 (extended support).

Office 2013: 10/04/2018 (standard support) – 11/04/2023 (extended support).

Office 2016: 13/10/2020 (standard support) – 14/10/2025 (extended support).

Office 2019: 10/10/2023 (standard support) – 14/10/2025 (extended support).

It is essential to check if your versions are outdated or about to be to avoid various issues, mainly those related to security vulnerabilities. In the majority of cases, these issues arise on devices used for web browsing.

We suggest that you take an inventory of your software and, if you can, make any necessary updates that are available to you. The majority of computer workstations that you have purchased since 2016 should give you the opportunity for upgrades.
